'The College Dropout' brought the dawn of the backpack rapper movement in the late 2000s.

Kanye West celebrated being sort of an outcast in hip-hop by mixing conscious rap tunes with his early soulful-sampling style and sprinkled in always cocky lyrics.

The concept album told a story of a struggling artist who overcame life-threatening obstacles, as evident on the Chaka Khan-sampled 'Through the Wire.' And he took a risk by rapping about religion -- something no other rapper would touch on -- with 'Jesus Walks.'

'The College Dropout' was genius, witty and a peek into Kanye's rebellious attitude -- one we've all grown to love and hate.
