The late Donna Summer was one of the most visible figures in dance and disco music.

In 1977, her futuristic song 'I Feel Love' laid the foundation for electronic production in popular music.

Produced by Giorgio Moroder, the record parted sonically from traditional disco acoustics and was recorded with an entirely synthesized track.

Even though producers were creating electronic music for years, 'I Feel Love' brought it to the forefront and was often imitated as the techno wave emerged in the 1980s.

The song reached No. 1 in the U.K. and was a top ten hit in the U.S.
