The BET network never offered up specifics as to why they decided to ban this video in early January. In fairness, spurting the word “h--” 52 times in the same song (way to research, Spin magazine!) and flashes of a birthday-suited Barbie might have had something to do with it. But regardless of the reason, Nicki Minaj’s colorful, sexual wonder and alleged diss to Lil’ Kim was a smash on YouTube (over 20 million hits), and joined the likes of Ciara’s ‘Ride’ as being too hot for TV. That, friends, is a list-topping feat. As for Kim’s response to the video during a talk show interview: “If you have to make a song called ‘Stupid H--’, you must be a stupid h--.’” Zing!
