Nas and Lauryn Hill released 'If I Ruled the World (Imagine That)' in 1996, and their collaboration stands as one of the most epic hip-hop records of all time. During Nas' set at Rock the Bells in New Jersey in September, the rapper surprised guests by bringing her to the stage to perform the record. He also gave space for Ms. Hill to vibe with the crowd during a mini-set of her own. The two also rocked an audience earlier that year together at Hot 97's Summer Jam. But no one knew that this was all foreshadowing for a tour later that year headlining the two highly-praised artists.

Before the end of September, Nas announced he and Lauryn would be going on the road nationally from October through November for the joint Life Is Good/Black Rage tour. The re-emergence of the former Fugees member was satisfying for loyalists who were thirsty to see her return to the spotlight. This reunion and return to form in the culture is unmatched.
