Chaka Khan has been in the business for four decades and has churned out songs that not only topped the charts but are also classics today.

Starting her career as the frontwoman of the 1970s funk band Rufus, Khan put her vocals on various hits including 'Sweet Thing' in 1975. After four years with Rufus, the chanteuse decided to go on her own despite the band's success.

Khan released her first solo album in 1978, which featured the inconic "girl power" track, 'I'm Every Woman.' During the late '70s and into the '80s, Khan continued to work on her solo music career while still returning to Rufus for one-off projects including 1983's 'Stompin' at the Savoy - Live,' which featured 'Ain't Nobody.'

Khan went on to release 10 more albums. And over the course of her career, she received 22 Grammy nominations -- 10 of which she won. In 2011, she was awarded with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, and the Soul Train Awards also honored her with the Lena Horne Award in 1998 and Legends Award in 2009.

To commemorate four decades in the music business, she will be releasing 'The iKhan Project: Alive! The Commemorative Edition' along with a handful of anniversary projects. She also has a sweets line called Chakalates, which is available exclusively at Neiman Marcus department stores.
