Zoanette Johnson Surprises With ‘Circle of Life’ on ‘American Idol’

FOX

Being the biggest wild card in the ‘American Idol’ season 12 deck, Zoanette Johnson surprised the judges yet again when she performed the famed ‘The Lion King’ theme song, ‘Circle of Life.’

Last week, Johnson showcased her own song on the drums. Now it’s a theme song from an animated movie; you never know what this girl is going to do next. And the judges love her for it, especially Nicki Minaj. Being one of her biggest’s supporters, the ‘Beez in the Trap’ rapper held her in high regard. “Who gon’ check you boo? You just served it,” Minaj said.

Perhaps it’s the fact she’s a bit of a character just like Minaj, which is why folks at ‘Idol’ love her. But we give credit when credit is due. This was a cool performance — original, memorable and a crowd-pleaser. Garnering a standing ovation, Zoanette shut down the ‘Idol.’
