Back in the mid-1990s, movie soundtracks often had the best mix of hip-hop you could find anywhere. In 1994, Warren G dropped the self-produced 'Regulate' with Nate Dogg, which was featured on the 'Above the Rim' soundtrack.

The song achieved much success on the strength of the G-Funk movement. The mellowed feel of the track was enhanced by both Warren's easy flow and Nate's honeyed vocals -- even as they relay the details of Warren finding himself in a tough corner one night.

As he's being robbed and giving his perspective, Nate is just across the alley and tells the story from his point of view, coming to his friend's rescue in the nick of time.
