Waka Flocka‘s management company, Mizay Entertainment, has been ordered to compensate a man for injuries he suffered during a 2011 shootout in Charlotte, N.C. According to NBC news affiliate WCNC, a civil jury ruled on Tuesday (Dec. 19) that the company must pay Antonio Stukes $501,000 in compensatory and punitive damages.

The case stems from a February 2011 incident in which Waka’s security team engaged in a gun battle with three men outside of a car stereo store in Charlotte. Police originally charged Stukes and five other men with attempted robbery and other weapons-related offenses but prosecutors dropped the charges due to lack of evidence.

According to Stukes’ attorney, Adam Seifer, his client was trying to give Waka a demo tape when the rapper’s security guard started shooting and he was caught in the crossfire. One of the bullets hit Stukes in the shoulder.

“The jury came down in our favor and really hit them hard,” said Seifer after the verdict. “The facts that were in the evidence showed they essentially shot at my client without provocation.”
