Vinny Cha$e spent much of his early years in hip-hop behind the scenes, shooting music videos for fellow Harlemite Juelz Santana. So what made this rapper make the leap in front of the camera to show off his lyrical skill?

In an interview with VladTV.com in October, Vinny said Lil’ B the Based God’s success was a catalyst. “I definitely respect the whole Based movement and everything they was doing, but I was like, 'Yo, ain’t no way he can do that and I can’t do that.'”

His ‘Golden Army’ mixtape, featuring beats crafted by Kid Art, Zeff Zukhan and Audio Dope Music, dropped late last year. On the project, he raps of luxurious habits and the New York City lifestyle on tracks like the soulfully-tinged 'Harlem Roses.'
