One of the saddest moments in R&B came in February 2012, when the genre unexpectedly lost Whitney Houston. So it was only right to honor the late pop icon on the 'VH1 Divas' special last night. Whitney received a dance tribute fitting for a grand diva by songbirds Jordin Sparks, Melanie Fiona and Ledisi.

Following a teary-eyed introduction from Brandy, Sparks kicked things off with 'I'm Every Woman,' Whitney's reworking of Chaka Khan's 1978 anthem. Fiona then sashayed down the aisle to perform the classics 'I Wanna Dance With Somebody' and 'It's Not Right, But It's Okay.' Finally, Ledisi closed out the tribute with Whitney's 1985 chart-topping single, 'How Will I Know.'

Whitney Houston may be gone but her musical legacy will continue to fulfill our hearts and spirits.

Rest in peace, Nippy. We will always love you.
