Run-DMC’s ‘Down With the King’ Remembered 20 Years Later
Run-DMC were the forerunners of flashiness in rap. The three emcees from Hollis, Queens formed the first hip-hop act to go gold with their self-titled debut album, the first to be nominated for a Grammy and the first to earn platinum certification for their second album 'King of Rock.'

Being one of the first acts to bring rap to the forefront, Run-DMC has been honored with tons of awards and accolades including being named the Greatest Hip-Hop Group of All Time by MTV and becoming the second rap group to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
