After the success of 'Good Girl Gone Bad,' Rihanna must have walked into Def Jam's offices and demanded independence over her image because it wasn't long before she became a straight-up trendsetter.

The Bajan beauty was always in a new look from that point forward. In 2009, she showed up at a VEVO event with a short, honey blonde cut, red lipstick, a black pantsuit and a gold plate sitting at her waist. However, it was the strong shoulders on her blazer that served as her statement piece that night. For at least another year or two, the strong shoulder jacket lingered on at the club and everywhere else.
