Veteran producer Scott Storch is having a bad day. The hitmaker was robbed of $5,000 in cash and jewelry in New York City earlier today (Aug. 20).

According to TMZ, Storch was leaving the New York Palace Hotel and was approached by two men with guns. Apparently, they were waiting outside for him while his awaiting SUV was parked in front of the hotel.

Storch told law enforcement sources that the gunmen said, "Give us all your jewelry and cash or you're dead."

The 39-year-old producer handed over a briefcase containing $5,000 in cash and several pieces of jewelry. The robbers also demanded the driver give them the keys to the car so the vehicle could not be operated -- the driver complied.

After the robbery, Storch went to a local police station and filed a report. Hopefully, he'll get his money and jewelry back.

We're puzzled as to why Storch is walking around with a briefcase full of cash, but we digress. We're just happy that no one was hurt during the incident.

To all the rappers and producers in town for the MTV Video Music Awards, please be careful. It's getting real out here.
