Rihanna understands the importance of giving rather than receiving this holiday season. The 'Unapologetic' songstress has pulled a large sum from her bank account to help out a hospital in her native Barbados.

Under the Clara Lionel Foundation -- named after her grandparents, Clara and Lionel Brathwaite -- RiRi, 24, donated three pieces of equipment worth more than $1.75 million to Queen Elizabeth Hospital, also known as QEH. The pop star presented the selfless gift to the hospital during a ceremony, which was held outside the radiotherapy building, renamed the Clara Braithwaite Centre for Oncology and Nuclear Medicine.

“This was my way of giving back to Barbados, in a form of philanthropy, by assisting the QEH in its continued modernization program,” Rihanna tells E! News. “I believe that this will have a huge impact on the people of Barbados. This was all done to save lives or at least extend them.”

Clara Brathwaite, whom the 'Diamonds' singer affectionately dubbed Gran Gran Dolly, was a beacon of light and inspiration for Rihanna. When she died unexpectedly in July, her granddaughter received ink of the Egyptian goddess Isis -- known as the ideal mother, wife and patron of nature and magic -- across her lower chest. “Goodbye #grangranDOLLY get your beauty rest until I see you,” wrote the entertainer via Twitter.
