President Obama is finally going on the record to speak about Jay-Z and Beyonce's controversial trip to Cuba.

The President stopped by NBC's 'Today' show earlier this morning to speak about several issues and addressed the famous couple's Cuban excursion, Hip Hop DX reports. "I wasn't familiar that [Jay-Z and Beyonce] were taking the trip. My understanding is I think they went through a group that organizes these educational trips down to Cuba," said Obama.

Guess 'Open Letter' wasn't exactly accurate. In the song, Jay claims that Obama spoke to him about the trip and even said he was going to get impeached because of his friendship with the rapper. Jay raps, “I turned Havana into Atlanta... Boy from the hood / I got White House clearance... Obama said, 'Chill you gonna get me impeached / You don’t need this s--- anyway, chill with me on the beach.'"

Last week, after the song debuted, a reporter presented the lyrics to White House press secretary Jay Carney during a press conference.

“I guess nothing rhymes with Treasury,” Carney told the reporter. In addition, he stated that ‘Open Letter’ is “a song” and the president “did not communicate with Jay-Z over this trip.”
