As a tribute to the late Notorious B.I.G., who died 16 years ago this month on March 9, 1997, New York rappers Lil Cease, Joey Bada$$, Uncle Murda, Maino, Fred the Godson and Joell Ortiz spit bars during a BET cypher.

With Hot 97's DJ Mister Cee on the turntables, spinning the classic 'Who Shot Ya?' instrumental, the six emcees flipped hard rhymes in memory of Frank White.

A brolic Cease was up first, rapping, "Sixteen years and it still B.I.G till to the death." Then Joey followed with his twisting rhymes as he paid tribute to his late friend Capital STEEZ. "The only time he's X-ing is when he's sexing / My team, like, teenage Mutants and X-Men," he raps.

Uncle Murda came through and like his rap moniker, he murdered the beat with his bullet-riddled rhymes. "March 9th is Biggie day / Any one of them dudes can get it from Snoop to Dre." Shots fired?

Fellow Brooklyn rapper Maino followed with his bleeped-out verse rapping, "Bed-Stuy we gonna celebrate Biggie everyday / March 9, it's a B.I.G. day every day."

Fred the Godson always likes to brings those rewindable punchlines when he spits a freestyle and he didn't disappoint in this cypher. Peep his final line: "It's nothin' s--- / My chain is called Lil Kim, because it's fucking B.I.G." Whoa!

Finally, Joell Ortiz completes the 7-minute cypher with his elegiac rhymes to late emcees Biggie and Big Pun. "Chris Wallace we miss you / Pop crystal for Jay he kept Brooklyn official / When you bumped into Christopher Rios / Tell him Joell Christopher Ortiz is repping Puerto Rico, Yaow" he raps.

All and all, this was a fantastic cypher in memory of B.I.G. There's no question that Biggie is smiling above in heaven.

Rest in peace Notorious B.I.G. You are forever beloved.
