R&B Newcomer Netta Brielle Covers ‘Rain’ With SWV’s Coko
R&B newcomer Netta Brielle is taking listeners down memory lane with her cover of SWV‘s classic, quiet storm ballad ‘Rain.’ She ups the ante with her remake by inviting Coko to duet with her on the track.
The Oakland, Calif., native goes a cappella and lets her voice anchor the song. Behind doo-wop vocals and a booming synth, Netta metaphorically sings about a love that showers her body and soul.
“Sometimes it’s soft as the misty rain / It gently touches my soul / It cools the fire that burns in me / And I simply lose control,” she coos.
Coko comes in and sings the infectious hook, “Just rain down on me / Let you’re love just fall like raindrops / Rain on me.”
In honor of Black Music Month, Netta will debut one song every week from her mixtape, ‘Will You Go With Me?,’ until its release on July 9. The mixtape will feature the songstress covering her favorite ’90s songs as well as two original tracks.

“The main thing I want people to know about me is that I’m just a normal girl who always wanted to be an artist and always wanted people to relate to me as that,” she tells Singersroom.
