Miguel won the first trophy of the night at the 2013 BET Awards Sunday night (June 30). The crooner won the Best Male R&B/Pop Artist trophy.

The 'Adorn' singer stepped up to the podium and thanked his fellow nominees Usher, Chris Brown, Bruno Mars and Justin Timberlake for being "leaders" in the R&B game.

Miguel also saluted some of the most important people in his life.

"I have to thank my mother, my father, my brother, my woman, Nazanin, thank you baby," he said. "Of course I have to thank my team: Mark Pitts, Wayne Barrow...[and] my team over at RCA."

Finally, before he left the stage, Miguel sent an encouraging message to his fans who dream of one day gracing the same BET Awards stage.

"For anyone out there, stick to guns and just do what you believe and you can do anything," he says. "To the fans, this is for you."

Congratulations, Miguel on winning your first BET Award!
