The world's biggest and brightest stars graced the red carpet at the annual Met Gala (aka Met Ball) last night (May 6) at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York. The night's theme was punk in honor of the Costume Institute exhibit at the museum entitled, 'PUNK: Chaos to Couture,' so R&B and hip-hop A-listers including Beyonce, Alicia Keys and Eve added their interpretation of it to their couture ensembles. Here's our recap of the night's big looks.

Jennifer Lopez is never afraid to show off her curves, and she doesn't shy away from them in this body-hugging Michael Kors gown. Not only do we love the animal print, but the hint of skin with the open back also adds just the right touch of sexiness to the look.

As a designer and one of the best dressed rappers in hip-hop, it wasn't surprising that Kanye West would be in attendance at the Met Ball. With baby mama Kim Kardashian on his arm, the two are head-to-toe in Givenchy.

Alicia Keys took the DIY aspect of the punk movement to heart. With the help of Jason Wu, she is dressed in a custom-made leather and maroon sequined gown with waist cut-outs. And to add more punk flair, she dons a red streak in her hair.

Pharrell Williams looks classy in a shiny gingham-patterned Lanvin tux, complete with a big bow tie. While we understand the theme, Pharrell should have really left the eyeliner at home.

Solange was one of the stars last night who wasn't afraid to sport color on the red carpet. Dressed in a floor-length light blue and black Kenzo design, the look gets that Solange touch with her signature afro coif.

Tommy Hilfiger is the last designer one associates with punk. However, Nicki Minaj hardly ever follows the rules and wore a navy gown from the designer and paired it with gold accessories. Although it has torso-showing cut-outs that also show off her back, the style of the dress is pretty conservative for the 'Starships' artist. But she did go big with that '80s hair.

Beyonce is known for show-stopping performances, and her look at last night's Met Gala fit the bill. With thigh-high boots, an even higher slit and a pattern that is out of this world, the songstress went with Givenchy for the ball. While we give her props for confidence to pull off such an outfit, she gets the crown for being too much at the ball.

Rita Ora was sparkling at the Met Ball on Monday evening in a white Thakoon dress and necklace. Clearly she's a fan of the designer as the two posed for tons of photos on the red carpet. The thigh-high slit and waist cut-out add enough sexiness to the simple, put together look.

Eve

Eve went all out in an all-black Jason Wu gown with lace accents and weaving. Although the dress looks really busy, she never lets the dress wear her.

While we aren't too sure what designer (or designers) Miguel is donning at this celebrity affair, he looks cool and comfortable in grey slacks, a shiny black blazer with pin details and studs on his patent leather shoes.
