It looks as if Lupe Fiasco is working on an entirely new album this year. The Chicago rapper made an announcement today (Jan. 17) on his Twitter that his next album, 'Food & Liquor II: The Great American Rap Album Pt. 2,' has been canceled.

"Hello. A decision has been made that the project titled "F&L2 Part 2" will be summarily cancelled for public release in 2013," a tweet read on his timeline. "The title/concept for Lupe's 2013 release will be revealed later this year."

It's unclear if Fiasco wrote the message or if someone from the rapper's label, Atlantic Records posted it. In addition, the 'Battle Scar' creator will no longer be tweeting on his Twitter page. "The LF twitter will be closed until that time. "Pls follow @DJBusy (+ @SNDCLSH) for daily updates. Thank You," read the final tweet.

There's been no comment from DJ Busy on Fiasco's decision to abort the 'Food & Liquor II' project. As for Soundclash -- a DJ group featuring Fiasco and Sky Gellatly -- they are busy touring with their next gig set for Hawaii during the NFL Pro Bowl weekend on Jan. 25.

Fiasco's last LP, 'Food & Liquor II: The Great American Rap Album Pt. 1,' was released last September to lukewarm reviews. The collection featured several socially-conscious tracks including 'Bitch Bad' and 'Around My Way (Freedom Ain't Free).'

We wish Lupe Fiasco the best of luck in his future endeavors.
