Lauryn Hill is facing the music today. The singer is starting a three-month prison sentence for tax evasion.

Officials tell TMZ that Lauryn was booked into the Federal Correctional Institution in Danbury earlier today. The site shares that she's in a "minimum security type facility" where she will live among the general population in "barracks type" accommodations.

She pled guilty for evading federal taxes of some $1.8 million earned between 2005 and 2007. The crime had a maximum sentence of three years.

The former Fugees member took to Tumblr to talk about her issues last year. "There were no exotic trips, no fleet of cars, just an all out war for safety, integrity, wholeness and health, without mistreatment, denial, and/or exploitation," she explained.

For fans eagerly awaiting her return to music, Lauryn shared, "I abandoned greed, corruption, and compromise, never you, and never the artistic gifts and abilities that sustained me."
