LaToya London Resurfaces, Brings Fantasia to ‘American Idol’ Stage
‘American Idol’ producers made an interesting decision to feature a follow-up on LaToya London’s career after her success on the show — or the lack thereof.
The season three contestant and member of the proclaimed ’3 Divas’ (LaToya London, Jennifer Hudson and Fantasia) talked about her West Coast roots, experiences on the show and, well, the “other” girl’s success after the competition.
Hudson, who was eliminated before London, went on to receive multiple accolades and awards including a Grammy and an Oscar.
Fantasia grew to become a mega R&B star, pushing London — who dropped a not-so-successful album back in 2005 — out of the limelight.
“Why were all three of us on the show at the same time?” she quipped, suggesting that the competition may have been too fierce. London hinted that the other divas’ presence on the popular show may have made it somewhat difficult for her to launch a successful career.
By the way, this disappointing trip down memory lane served as Fantasia’s introduction. The chanteuse returned to the ‘American Idol’ stage tonight performing ‘Lose to Win,’ the lead single from her upcoming album ‘Side Effects of You.’ Awkward.
