While Kid Cudi has been known to do a combination of rapping and singing, his latest track, 'Immortal,' showcases more of the latter -- and perhaps even belting -- presenting a new side to the Ohio native.

'Immortal,' from his upcoming album, 'Indicud,' sounds like an empowerment anthem that can pick up anyone who's down. "I got my lion heart and electric flowing through my brain / Shocking waves make me feel I can float / It’s like the city is mine and the dark is my cave / I can’t explain this sudden peace in my walk," he sings.

The self-produced track uses a sample from Brooklyn snyth pop band MGMT's 'Congratulations' as well as a clip of Adam Sandler saying, "I"m the smartest man alive!"

"Ok, so heres what I did [sic]," he wrote on Twitter, explaining why he used the MGMT song. "I took one of my favorite bands MGMT's song 'Congratulations', put it in reverse, sped it up, and produced over it."

This isn't Cudi's first connection with MGMT. He worked with them alongside Ratatat on the track 'Pursuit of Happiness,' featured on his 2010 LP, 'Man on the Moon: The End of Day.'

'Indicud' arrives April 23,
