Kendrick Lamar has received an early Christmas present and he's surely not complaining about the gift.

The rapper's Interscope debut, 'good kid, m.A.A.d. city,' was recently certified gold, selling over 500,000 copies. When the album dropped in October, it debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 chart and sold 242,000 copies.

The West Coast rap star spoke to MTV News about the high of the major accomplishment. ""It's crazy man, you think about the first time you actually start rapping," he said. "That's what I think about every time I hear that, knowing how far I've got with it to actually have your own album in your hands and it's certified gold. It's a crazy feeling; it's a surreal moment in time that I'm in right now."

Currently touring in Australia, Lamar will head back to the states for some final shows of 2012. He also has a European tour at the top of the new year beginning on Jan. 13, where he'll be hitting up the following cities:

Jan. 15: Academy, Newcastle
Jan. 16: ABC, Glasgow
Jan. 17: Ritz, Manchester
Jan. 18: Institute, Birmingham
Jan. 19: Academy, Bristol
Jan. 20: Hammersmith Apollo, London
