Kanye West Rocks Governors Ball Music Festival in New York, Debuts ‘Yeezus’ Songs

After celebrating his 36th birthday Saturday (June 8) with his celebrity friends, Kanye West performed a visually-stunning concert at New York’s Governors Ball Music Festival Sunday night (June 9).

According to Pitchfork, Mr. West performed several of his most popular tracks (‘Power,’ ‘Can’t Tell Me Nothing’ ‘Heartless’) as well as three new songs from his ‘Yeezus’ album, which is due June 18.

Among the ‘Yeezus’ tunes he premiered were ‘On Site’ and ‘I Am God,’ plus one untitled track. He also performed ‘Black Skinhead’ (twice) and his polarizing song, ‘New Slaves.’

Midway through his 90-minute set, Yeezy took a moment to give the audience his usual rant, speaking on things that were on his mind. Thankfully, he kept it brief but had a few things to say about his new album.

“You know with this album, we ain’t drop no single for radio, we ain’t got no big NBA campaign or nothing like that,” he said while the instrumental of ‘Clique’ played on. “S— we ain’t got no cover… we just made some real music.”

“But honestly, at this point, when I listen to radio, that ain’t where I wanna be no more,” he continued. “Honestly, at this point, I could give a f— about selling a million records. As long as I put out an album for the summer that y’all can rock to all motherf—ing summer. And I don’t give a f— to what the label tell me; I’m gonna sell more records. ‘Cause at this point, I don’t really give a f— about outside opinions.”

Tell ’em why you’re mad, Yeezy!
