Kanye West has been charged with criminal battery and attempted grand theft in connection with his July 19 altercation with a paparazzo.

As we previously reported, photographer Daniel Ramos has hired famed attorney Gloria Allred to represent him in the case. Ramos claims that his altercation with Yeezy left him on crutches for two weeks. Allred maintains that not only was her client injured but West interfered with his right to free speech.

The beatdown in question happened at LAX when West attacked Ramos for talking to him while he was trying to get inside his car. The rapper-producer was caught on video putting the shutterbug in a headlock before letting him go.

West initially was hit with felony charges for the incident, but Deputy District Attorney Amy-Hannah Broersm decided not to file charges. In her report, she said the charges were dropped due to the victim not suffering from any severe injuries and that West didn't grab for his camera.

According to TMZ, if 'Ye gets convicted on both the misdemeanor charges he could be facing a maximum of one year in jail. He is scheduled to appear in court on Oct. 10.

Kanye West's attorney, Blair Berk, had no comment on the matter.
