Janelle Monae is gearing up for a busy summer. The singer drops a new song today and reveals that her next album is coming out in September.

The songstress’ new single, ‘Dance Apocalyptic,’ is a jumpy party song about breaking out from the ho-hum of daily life, tinged with her signature nostalgia pop. “You’re not afraid to break out… I need to know if the world stops, will you freak out?” she sings. “Going crazy… Do that dance… Keep a rocking and a rolling.”

A video for the song will be out on July 2 and the pint-sized dynamo will likely perform this track at the 2013 BET Music Awards Sunday.

‘The Electric Lady,’ her new LP, is slated for a Sept. 10 release. This effort is a follow-up to 2010′s ‘The ArchAndroid.’
