India.Arie has been laying low for some time now -- it's been four years since the singer-songwriter dropped her last commercial album, 'Testimony Vol. 2: Love & Politics,' but now she's preparing to return to the soul genre with her fifth offering, 'SongVersation.'

On Tuesday (March 26), the Grammy Award-winning artist announced via press release that her latest body of work will be arriving on June 25 through Soulbird/Motown Records.

The project, recorded in both Atlanta and Los Angeles, has been produced mainly by Arie and Shannon Sanders, another Grammy winning songwriter.

TheDrop.fm premiered her lead single 'Cocoa Butter' on Friday (March 22), but it will be available for fans to add to their personal music collection through iTunes on April 9.

In the press release, Arie attempted to explain the creative process behind recording the album, “The making of this album has been one of the most important experiences of my career,” she said.

“Every time I make an album, it’s an important and tumultuous and nuanced and complex and dynamic process of going into the woods and coming out with the Holy Grail…" she continues. "The Holy Grail being the internal growth that becomes fertile ground for new songs. This album was a process of many journeys all happening at once, culminating in not just a fertile ground, but a fertile ground on a different land.”
