Young Thug and Future are two of Atlanta's biggest hitmakers, which is cool for the south since it puts the region on the map. However, their shine does overshadow their peers. Rich Homie Quan is arguably one of them. The "Type of Way" rapper turns 26 years old today (Oct. 4).

Rich Homie Quan struck gold in the same year that Young Thug became a star and Birdman and Lil Wayne saw their relationship disintegrate. After leaving behind his baseball aspirations for rap and serving a bid for burglary, the Atlanta rhymer got a chance to tour with a then-hot Trinidad James and got a feature on a Gucci Mane mixtape. Then came "Type of Way," a song that packaged an easily recognizable turn of phrase into a hit.

With the added success of Still Goin' In (Reloaded), the "Walk Thru" rapper proved he was hot enough to team up with Birdman and Young Thug to form the rap trio Rich Gang. The preceding album was unremarkable, but the Rich Gang: Tha Tour Pt. 1 brought them acclaim.

The trio eventually split, but Rich Homie Quan had almost no problem making hits on his own. His latest hit was "Flex (Ooh, Ooh, Ooh)," an infectious jam that doubled as a reminder that he was never going to stop flexing.
