Happy Birthday, Drake!

Drake is on an unstoppable streak right now. The Toronto rhymer turns 30 years old today (Oct. 24).

In 2009, Drake released So Far Gone, with moody productions courtesy of his longtime producer and friend Noah “40” Shebib. With Young Money Records backing him up, Drizzy’s stardom began to rise and set the stage for his impending takeover of the rap game.

His debut album, Thank Me Later, is considered a misfire by critics. Yet, it still produced mega hits in “Find Your Love” and “Over.” Drake reined some of the flaws he had for his ambitious sophomore album, Take Care. Drake’s most viral hits, “The Motto” and “Marvin’s Room,” were cultural phenomenons, while songs like the Rick Ross-assisted “Lord Knows” and the title track helped bring Take Care to double platinum status.

Since then, the OVO leader absolutely could not miss. Nothing Was the Same, with its mercurial sounds, was a hit album. If You’re Reading This It’s Too Late made people pay for a mixtape again. What A Time To Be Alive, his collaborative project with Future, was too big to fail and it didn’t. And VIEWS may have gotten lukewarm reviews, but it was another smash hit.

In the end, Drake stays winning. But we’ll see how this current spat with Pusha T and Kid Cudi plays out. In the meantime, Happy Born Day, Drizzy!
