Legendary rapper Darryl "DMC" McDaniels of Run-DMC is bringing the worlds of hip-hop and comics together for a new project.

According to VIBE, DMC has launched a new imprint, Darryl Make Comics, and is planning to create a 48-page graphic novel that will infuse '80s hip-hop culture and comic book themes. The book is about a guy name Darryl who becomes a superhero on a mission to fight injustice in an alternate universe.

DMC's next step is to add his project to the crowd-sourcing website Kickstarter to allow fans to fund it.

“This graphic novel will entertain, educate, and inspire all who enter into the DMC universe and empower all cultures the same way I did with my music,” says DMC in his Kickstarter video.

Helping DMC edit the comic book is Darryl Makes Comics editor-in-chief Edgardo Miranda-Rodriguez and senior editor Rigo "Riggs" Morales. In addition, writer Ronald Wimberly and artists Damion Scott and Dexter Vines will draw images for the book.

Good luck to DMC on his new venture.
