A track from Jay-Z and Kanye West's debut collaboration, ‘Watch the Throne,’ ‘No Church in the Wild’ didn’t attract as much attention lyrically as it did with this Romain Gavras-directed video that accompanied it (think M.I.A.’s ‘Born Free’). Intense rioting sequences, Molotov cocktails, looting and snarling K-9s prepped for attack were featured -- all of which sparked questions about the political and religious subtexts. Is it an Occupy Wall Street thing? A church vs. state thing? A why-won’t-they-show-up-in-their-own-video thing? Guess we’ll never know.
