Charlie Askew Gets Nicki Minaj’s Stamp of Approval on ‘American Idol’

FOX

Charlie Askew, one of Nicki Minaj‘s favorite ‘American Idol’ contestants, blew her away again to the point where she wanted to “cradle [him] jn [her] arms.”

Choosing Elton John’s ‘Rocket Man,’ Charlie made a solid song choice that yet again pleased the ‘Itty Bitty Piggy’ rapper. To her delight, she had this to say: “Charlie, you’ve made the most interesting song choice of the night. It’s the smartest. Your weirdness, your awkwardness, it excited me.” He knew what he was doing; having a judge on your side is always going to help you on ‘Idol.’

What this kid has going is his weirdness. It’s not just that he’s weird and different like former contestants Jada and Kez Ban. Charlie can sing and he sings songs that he connects with. Charlie makes it through yet another week keeping the weirdness alive on ‘Idol.’

Shout out to the “awkward turtles.”
