Burnell Taylor’s ‘Ready for Love’ Couldn’t Save His ‘American Idol’ Spot

Burnell Taylor was voted off 'American Idol' on Thursday night (April 4) and it was a surprise to no one. 

Now, only six contestants remain to compete for the title of the next Idol superstar.

Burnell sang for his life, belting lyrics from India.Arie's 'Ready for Love,' as the saved Top 6 looked on in support.

Most of his fellow competitors were hurt to see him voted into the bottom position. Candice Glover stood sullenly with tears streaming down her face, her eyes cast downward.

Despite Mariah Carey's waterworks and the audience's 60 percent vote to keep him on, host Ryan Seacrest asked if the judges would use their only save of the season to keep Burnell, to which Randy Jackson responded, "Unfortunately, Ryan, we are not going to use it."

With Jackson's final word as an echoing statement, Burnell Taylor's time on 'American Idol' came to a close, but not without making an impact and earning some new fans along the way.
