Bruno Mars is on his suit and tie s--- for the April 2013 issue of GQ magazine -- he's featured on the cover. The singer-songwriter talks sex, drugs and music in the men's publication.

The feature starts off with a conversation behind his chart-topping single, 'Locked Out of Heaven.' Mars tells the writer, Chris Heath, that the song is about his love for a female's body part. "In the most beautiful, passionate, sexy way ever," he says.

The Grammy-winning crooner also reveals that writing a big song is the most difficult thing to do but the most rewarding for him.

"You know how hard it is to write a big song? That s--- is hard, man. It’s so hard to do. Might be one of the hardest things to ever do," he says. "I don’t ever want to come out with something safe and get away with ‘It sounds good!’ It’s got to be more than sounding good. The music I like are events."

"F---ing 'Bohemian Rhapsody' is my favorite song -- that song's an event. And that’s what I want to do. I’m sure that shocked the world, that song. ‘Billie Jean’ shocked the world. ‘Smells Like Teen Spirit.’ Those songs are events. That guy put everything he got into that, and he meant it. It’s that unexplainable high," he continues. "Why I keep doing it.

"That feeling that you keep on chasing and chasing. Because it’s nothing, man. It’s taking the air and turning it into something. That’s the feeling."

Elsewhere in the interview, the discussion of Mars' 2010 Las Vegas cocaine bust comes up. The 27-year-old crooner had to perform community service in lieu of having the case dismissed. On why he was smiling in his infamous mugshot photo, Bruno said he had no idea. But he regrets the incident. "I was really intoxicated. I was really drunk," he says. "So a lot of that is a big blur, and I try every day to forget and keep pushing."

When Mars was asked what he plans to do when he retires years from now, he responds, "On a beach, drinking out of a coconut, watching some kids running around in the sand, looking at the ocean." He then adds, "And then planning a reunion tour."
