'The Songstress', Anita Baker's debut album, will reach the 30th anniversary mark next May. The soul legend's career is admirable with a hit list that spans over three decades. And although it's been eight years since she released her last LP, 'My Everything,' Baker isn't backing down from creating music from the heart. In August, she released a remake of Tyrese's 1998 hit 'Lately.' The effort will be featured on her upcoming album, 'Only Forever.'

As she prepares to put out a new project, the 54-year-old Detroit native admits she has a love-hate relationship with new technology. While editing music is essential at times, Baker isn't fond of any tool that hinders the beauty of her natural voice. "They want to take it into the realm of Pro Tools and go, 'Oh, I'm gonna slice this bar measure... slice your vocal and edit it,' and it's like, 'No darling. I sang this. This is from my heart and this is my performance,'" she told The BoomBox. Anita Baker won't settle for less, and despite 'Only Forever' being delayed, we know it'll be well worth the wait.
