Beyonce gave the performance of her career at the 2013 Presidential Inauguration ceremony today. The songbird performed the National Anthem in front of 800,000 people who were in Washington D.C., to watch President Obama get sworn in for his second term.

Her patriotic rendition capped off a beautiful event that featured dignitaries, poets and musicians. Among the artists performing at the ceremony included James Taylor delivering an acoustic guitar-driven rendition of 'America the Beautiful' and Kelly Clarkson singing 'My Country 'Tis of Thee.' Other celebrities in attendance included Katy Perry and her beau John Mayer, Usher and Stevie Wonder.

Before the event, Beyonce was escorted to the West Front of the U.S. Capitol by her hubby Jay-Z. The two looked very much like the royal king and queen of hip-hop and R&B. Mrs. Carter wore a shimmering floor-length black gown (designed by Emilio Pucci) with a fur coat, while a bespectacled Hov was dressed in a charcoal suit with a blue shirt and tie and navy-colored scarf around his neck.

The Destiny's Child frontwoman follows behind Aretha Franklin who sang 'My Country, 'Tis of Thee' at the 2009 presidential inauguration. President Obama and Michelle Obama famously danced to Beyonce's cover of Etta James' 'At Last' at the inaugural ball.
