Best R&B Albums of 2012: ‘Our Version of Events,’ Emeli Sande

Emeli Sande is a Scottish-born singer-songwriter who is just as soulful as last year's "it" songbird Adele, which, ironically, the two share the same first name. Wisely for Sande, she dropped her surname and went with her middle name Emeli instead.

On her debut album, 'Our Version of Events,' Sande soars vocally on such anthemic tracks like 'Next to Me' and on emotive ballads like 'Maybe' and 'My Kind of Love.' But it's Sande's songwriting that is the real standout on this collection. She delicately threads enthralling stories of love, heartbreak and triumph that it almost leaves us breathless.

'Our Version of Events' is one of the best albums of 2012, and it demands your attention from beginning to end. If Sande continues in this pace, she's virtually unstoppable.
