With artists like Justin Timberlake, Miguel and Chris Brown helping to bring a more traditional flavor of R&B back to the mainstream, August Alsina lets us know that he will keep the movement alive with his latest mixtape, 'The Product 2.'

Hosted by DJ Drama, the project shows the Def Jam signee's range as he mixes his street swag with the smooth sounds of traditional R&B.

The project has appearances from Trinidad Jame$, Juelz Santana and Roscoe Dash, which all blend in with Alsina’s style as he shows he can make some hits for the radio and make some hits for the ladies.

'I Luv This S---,' featuring Trinidad Jame$, is the first banger of the mixtape, with a decent verse from Jame$ on a slow, 808’s-filled track, which will definitely be heard on a lot of female's playlists.

'Work' features Roscoe Dash, and this song shows that Alsina can make a song for the radio. It is reminiscent of something Trey Songz may have done in his early days.

'Confessions Interlude' is one of the highlights of the mixtape as it sets the mood for the rest of the project, with a more traditional style of R&B. The only shame is that it's just over a minute long.

As the tape comes to an end, the track 'Downtown' is another song to look out for, as it is carried by an engaging beat, one that Alsina rides along, giving a story on the struggles that occur while trying to achieve success.

Overall, 'The Product 2' shows that there is a new threat in the R&B game: August Alsina. With a mixture of street swag paired with R&B sensibilities, he has the skills to be spoken about in the same breath as Trey Songz and Miguel in a few years. DJ Drama did a good job choosing songs that flowed together, which shows the range the singer is capable of.
