One aspiring rapper was sick of being at the bottom of the hip-hop game so he attempted to shoot and kill his friend as a sacrifice for the Illuminati -- an act he believed would give him the success he yearned for.

Wafeeq Sabir El-Amin, 27, of South Richmond, Va., was smoking marijuana with his friend, who fell asleep on Dec. 26, 2012. El-Amin then held a gun to his friend's head when he woke up, according to the Richmond Times-Dispatch.

“You are my sacrifice,” Deputy Commonwealth’s Attorney Thomas Johnson quoted El-Amin as saying before he allegedly fired a shot toward his friend’s head. The bullet ricocheted off the victim's hand and he eventually got a hold of El-Amin's gun and shot him in the stomach before he ran out of the house.

Johnson said El-Amin believed that a human sacrifice had to take place for him to join the Illuminati. He also added that El-Amin was obsessed with a book about the secret society and the supposed impact it had on the careers of hip-hop's biggest stars, 50 Cent in particular.

El-Amin will be charged with malicious wounding, use of a firearm in commission of a felony, possession of marijuana and possession with intent to distribute marijuana. His trial is set to start June 26.
