September has an unusually high amount of big album releases including 2 Chainz‘s sophomore effort, Drake‘s ‘Nothing Was the Same’ and Justin Timberlake‘s ‘The 20/20 Experience: 2 of 2.’ There are numerous others, which makes it even more impressive that singers Ariana Grande and Tamar Braxton are still much talked about artists. The duo ruled the Billboards charts with their respective album releases by debuting at No. 1 and 2, respectively.

This is a welcomed change to the Top 10, which has been male-dominated in the last couple of weeks. Grande’s album, ‘Yours Truly,’ managed to move 138,000 copies, while Braxton’s ‘Love & War’ trailed behind with 114,000 sold. ‘Love & War’ is Braxton’s first album in 13 years.

Grande is the first female artist to have an album debut at No. 1 since Ke$ha did so in 2010 with ‘Animal,’ according to Billboard. ‘Yours Truly’ is the television star-turned-broadway rap singer‘s first album.

Braxton did beat Grande when it comes to physical copies sold, selling 63,000 copies to Grande’s 30,000. ‘Yours Truly’ sold 78 percent more copies digitally — 108,000 — to the 51,000 copies sold of ‘Love & War.’

The mom to baby Logan topped the charts in physical copies sold with Grande coming in second.
