50 Cent is getting into the television game with a new show for the Sundance Channel. The New York rapper will executive produce a reality series called ‘Dream School.’

The six-part hour-long program takes high-school dropouts and places them in special classes taught by musicians, filmmakers, politicians, scientists and other professionals at the top of their respective fields. The ultimate goal of the series is to give these students, who come from different backgrounds, a second chance to finish school and pursue their dreams.

“The importance of ‘Dream School’ is monumental. Helping to inspire these students to reach their potential is personally gratifying,” said Fiddy about the show in a statement.

British TV chef Jamie Oliver will also executive produce the project, which is based on his successful U.K. series of the same name.

“The series of ‘Dream School’ we did in the U.K. was one of the things I’m most proud of,” he said. “We literally changed the lives of many of the kids for the better.”

Meanwhile, 50 has teamed up with Lou DiBella’s BK Blu Productions to present a boxing documentary on the life of late Mexican boxer Johnny Tapia. The film chronicles Tapia’s rise in the boxing world as well as his spiral into drug addiction and the murder of his mother.

50 says the movie parallels his own life story.

“His story resonated with me because like Tapia, I too lost my mother to violence and grew up with limited means,” he said. “It’s a heartfelt story and it was important for me to get involved with bringing this to a broader audience.”

‘Tapia’ will premiere at the Los Angeles Film Festival on June 15, followed by a second screening on June 18.

Congrats to 50 Cent on his new television show and upcoming documentary.
